Another work related trip to Chile. The main mirror of the VISTA Telescope was removed for recoating. We also had a change to visit the E-ELT construction site and on the way home we saw the total solar eclipse in La Serena.

In October 2012 the Tautenburg Observatory (Thüringer Landessternwarte Tautenburg) had their traditional Long Night of Stars (Lange Nacht der Sterne). They have one of the biggest telescopes in Germany which is also the biggest Schmidt Camera in the world having a primary mirror diameter of 2 meters.
